Mötley Crüe co-founder and bassist Nikki Sixx posted a rarely seen picture with his bandmates taken almost 40 years ago and got nostalgic about how they all become much more than friends facing many struggles over the course of many years.

The legendary heavy metal band Mötley Crüe formed in 1981 by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, lead guitarist Mick Mars and lead singer Vince Neil. Throughout their career, the band achieved seven platinum certification. Although they had to face many challenges over the years, Mötley Crüe remained as one of the most iconic heavy metal bands of all time.

Recently on Instagram, Nikki Sixx posted a rarely seen picture of his bandmates which was taken for the Los Angeles Times almost 40 years ago. On the caption of his post, Sixx tagged his bandmates, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee, and mentioned how they managed to remain as brothers over the years regardless of the various challenges they had to face in the band or in their personal lives.

Furthermore, Nikki asserted that he would always love Mötley Crüe no matter what. The legendary bassist also asked the fans whether it was possible to find the negatives for the shot he posted.

Here’s what Nikki Sixx stated in the caption of his post:

“If I remember correctly we shot this for the Los Angeles Times near our apartment in Hollywood around the fall of 1981. We were starting to make a buzz with no support or interest from a record company so we started our own label.

Bands are brothers, through thick and thin. I’ll always love this band…
