Mötley Crüe’s co-founder and bass guitarist, Nikki Sixx, recently posted a couple of photos of his new custom made guitars by Bruce Nelson and said that they sound amazing while hinting that he’ll get to try them out soon at the Mötley Crüe Tour.
As you may recall, after the mainstream success of Mötley Crüe’s biographical film ‘The Dirt,’ the band realized that their fans had really missed seeing them on stage, TV, or anywhere basically. Following that, Mötley Crüe decided to reunite for ‘The Stadium Tour‘ and co-headline with Def Leppard.
The tour was going to take place in 2020 but unfortunately had to be postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Almost a month ago, Nikki Sixx had said that ‘The Stadium Tour’ will definitely happen but had added that the time is unknown as they’re concerned about the well-being and safety of both their fans and their crew members.
In his recent Instagram post, Sixx shared his excitement about his “new” custom-made guitars which were built by Bruce Nelson. In the caption of his post, Sixx said that he was really impressed with the job that Bruce did for Joe Perry and the members of Stone Temple Pilots so he wanted to get some specially made guitars too.
After meeting up with Bruce Nelson and discussing some ideas that he had, he ended up getting ‘two beauties‘ which may look used and old but apparently, the ‘basses sound amazing.’ This purchase seemed like tour-preparation to Mötley Crüe fans who are at the edge of their seat waiting for news.
In the caption, Nikki Sixx also included Bruce Nelson’s caption in which he said that their schedules are ‘heading to opposite directions‘ which Mötley Crüe fans perceived as yet another sign that ‘The Stadium Tour’ is in the works and that they’ll be getting some news soon.
Here’s what Nikki Sixx said in the caption of his recent post:
“After seeing what Bruce built for Joe Perry and my friends in Stone Temple Pilots, I was hoping I could get one for myself someday. We jammed on a few ideas and came up with these two beauties. But forget about the looks, these basses sound amazing. Thanks, buddy.
Repost from Bruce Nelson:
3/29/21 Finished up 2 new builds just in time for Nikki Sixx, from a local band calling themselves Mötley Crüe as both our schedules are heading in opposite directions. Both basses feature all the ingredients I love: Lightweight Tempered bodies and necks, stainless frets, steel bridges, steel-string blocks for string-thru-body, steel 6-screw neck plates, and brass nuts.”
