Black Sabbath icon Ozzy Osbourne recently joined a conversation with SiriusXM to promote his new album, in which he also shared one of his memories with Eric Clapton.

Ozzy Osbourne has achieved great success with his solo career that spans over four decades. Although the singer has been dealing with medical issues for the past years, it didn’t prevent him from working on a new album. His latest studio effort, ‘Patient Number 9‘, arrived on September 9, 2022. Preceded by the singles, ‘Patient Number 9,’ ‘Degradation Rules,’ and ‘Nothing Feels Right,’ the album consists of 13 tracks in total.

In the new record, many prominent artists like Jeff Beck, Tony Iommi, Zakk Wylde, and Eric Clapton have made guest appearances on some songs. For instance, Clapton joined Osbourne with a guitar solo in the track, ‘One of Those Days.’ Although it marks Ozzy’s first official collaboration with Clapton, the pair’s paths have crossed many times. In a recent appearance on SiriusXM, Osbourne recalled getting a photo with Clapton and Grace Jones at an award show.

As it turns out, this incident made Ozzy Osbourne paranoid about Eric Clapton and assumed that the singer held a grudge against him. Later, when they run into each other at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting,  Osbourne thought Clapton had been obsessed with him ever since they took the photo together. So, the rocker assumed that the guitarist had followed him and intentionally come to the same meeting to see him, which proved wrong later on.

Ozzy Osbourne speaking on his paranoia about Eric Clapton:

“I was in New York at an award show. I was giving an award out with Grace Jones. So at the end of it, it’s me and Grace Jones, I say ‘Let’s come on in; we’re going to have a photo. Be there with Eric Clapton.’ And I went, ‘F*ck.’ And the guy was going, ‘Do your Ozzy face.’ I was going to get the f*ck out of there. I convinced myself that he had the photograph pulled for ten years. And I go to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in the Valley, and he is sitting in the meeting, and I’m thinking, ‘Oh, he’s followed me.'”
