The legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, Ozzy Ozbourne, spoke in the recent interview with Classic Rock and revealed his feelings about being alive by mentioning the alcohol and drug usage of the early of his career.
In the interview, Ozzy stated that he is so lucky to be alive and also doesn’t know why he is still alive. Furthermore, he referred the musicians like Bon Scott and John Bonham that died because of the alcohol and drug abuse and said that he did worse compared to them, and this is why he is so lucky to be breathing.
“What’s the meaning of life?”
Ozzy Osbourne responded:
“At the end of the day, you can look back down the road and say, ‘Well, I did it my way.’ I’m 71 now. Looking down that road, there’s so many people that have gone.
Gary Moore, he was a good friend of mine. I used to go drinking with John Bonham, and the drink killed him years ago. But there’s so many great musicians gone.”
“Does that make you nostalgic or even melancholic?”
Ozzy Osbourne said:
“No. As I say, I don’t know why I’m still alive. They didn’t do any worse than I did, I didn’t do anything less than they did.
We all drank the same, we all partied the same, we all did the same. I was lucky I didn’t choke on my vomit. Like Bon Scott. He was a good friend of mine. He was a great singer.”
