The legendary Black Sabbath star Ozzy Osbourne has joined for the new episode of SiriusXM – Ozzy Boneyard’s ‘Ozzy Speak’ and talked about the untold conversation he had with late Van Halen icon Eddie Van Halen.
While talking about how his relationship with late icon was like, he also shared a rare story about Eddie Van Halen to the co-host of the show, Billy Morrison. According to Ozzy, after Van Halen parted ways with Sammy Hagar, Eddie has called him at 4’o clock in the morning to ask if he can replace him.
While Ozzy admitting that he thought Eddie was a little bit drunk, he also did not hesitate to pay respect to Eddie’s guitar-playing skills. According to Ozzy, watching Eddie playing was like seeing a person that would turn his hands into a spider.
Here is what Ozzy said:
“You think you’ve seen it all. Then out of the blue, somebody comes out with such a revolutionized way of playing. To watch Eddie play was, like — his hands would turn into a spider. It was remarkable. He always made it look like it was so easy.”
Billy Morrison asked this:
“Did you and Eddie ever had a chance to work together beyond just sharing the stage on various tours and festivals?”
Ozzy Osbourne responded:
“No, no, no. He phoned me up one time and asked me if I wanted to sing in his band — way after Sammy Hagar had left the band. I think he was a bit drunk. We’ve all done one of them — calling at four o’clock in the morning.”
