The iconic Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo posted a new photo on his verified Instagram page and shared really bad news for the fans. Philip announced that one of his childhood heroes and a legendary NFL star, Tom Dempsey, has lost his life due to coronavirus.

As he shared his condolences to Tom and his family, Phil also penned an important letter to warn his followers to stay at home and be safe, until the coronavirus outbreak ends.

Here is Phil’s emotional letter:

“He did the do with half a shoe…Local Nola legend Tom Dempsey, kicker for the New Orleans @saints held the record for the longest field goal for 43 years.

Born with no fingers & toes on his right side, with his game-winning & record-breaking field goals people would say he’s “Doing the do with half a shoe.” RIP Tom Dempsey & deepest condolences to his family…

We lost him to the COVID virus two days ago & his family could not be with him when he passed. Help stop the spread of covid19 #tomdempsey #riptomdempsey”

An Instagram user and Phil’s follower named kingrhinoltd commented:

“We graduated from the same high school… Rest in peace, Mr. Dempsey.”

Another user named barrythomasgill wrote this:

“😢😢He knocked my Lions out of the playoffs with record kick. 😢😢”
