The British gothic metal band Paradise Lost has regrettably announced that they have postponed the ‘Obsidian‘ album release show at the Warehouse in Leeds to May 1st next year.

The band has released their sixteenth studio album ‘Obsidian’ on 15 May 2020 via the independent record label Nuclear Blast. The frontman of Paradise Lost, Nick Holmes has talked about the album and said that it is one of the most eclectic albums they have done in some time.

Holmes also added that ‘Oblivion’ is made of miserable songs, sad songs, slow songs, and faster songs in general. The first single of the album, ‘Fall from Grace‘ premiered on March 20, along with a music video.

The next step of the band was planned as an album release show in Leeds. However, on their latest Instagram post, Paradise Lost sadly stated that they had to postpone the gig due to the continued live music restrictions the coronavirus has brought upon.

The explanation of Nick Holmes about the postponement was inserted in the caption of the post. He said that the music industry has been hit hard for the last five months and continues to do so.

Holmes admitted that they have held on for as long as they possibly could waiting for a positive change, but, 2020 seems like it’s written off for live music. On the other hand, he remarked that they are determined to remain positive and said this is not the end.

Here is what was said in the announcement of Paradise Lost:

We regret to announce that due to the continued live music restrictions the coronavirus has brought upon us, our ‘Obsidian‘ album release show at the Warehouse in Leeds will be postponed to May 1st next year. Statement from Nick below:

Firstly, thanks to everyone for the incredible response to our latest album, Obsidian. We released the album just under three months ago and regardless of the situation, the response has been exceptional.

However, as the crisis continues, it leads us to sadly announce that our proposed album launch show in Leeds, UK for ‘Obsidian’ has been postponed to May 1st, 2021.”

He continued:

“It’s no secret that, globally, our industry has been hit hard for the last five months and continues to do so. While we have held on for as long as we possibly could waiting for a positive change, unfortunately 2020 seems like it’s written off for live music, and none more so than here in the UK.

This isn’t the end – we regard the current situation as a pause, not a stop, and we are determined to remain positive; there is light at the end of the tunnel. We can’t wait to play our new album live and loud on a stage in front of an audience and moving forward, like all other musicians, guitar techs, drum techs, tour managers and even tour ‘damagers’ we cannot wait to get back out there in 2021.”
