The Beatles’ co-lead vocalist and bassist, Paul McCartney, recently posted a video on his Instagram account and revealed that he has been working on an unconventional autobiography that will enable his fans to understand each era of his life as a musician through the exploration of the music that he created.

There is no doubt that Paul McCartney is one of the most famous rockstars of all time and the 78 years old rockstar still enjoys creating music and performing in front of thousands of people. As you may recall, McCartney released his surprise 18th solo album ‘McCartney III‘ on December 18, 2020.

His latest album was well received by both fans and critics who were not expecting an album from Paul McCartney after the outbreak of COVID-19. However, as it turns out, he didn’t expect to release one either but once he started creating some songs for a friend’s short film, he just couldn’t stop himself and ended up writing enough songs to create an album.

McCartney surprised his fans once more last night with his latest Instagram post. Just some hours ago, he announced that he will be publishing his autobiography ‘The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present‘ on November 2, 2021. However, McCartney’s autobiography, just like his music, is quite different from the autobiographies that we usually come across.

Instead of detailing his life and talking about his experiences through memory, McCartney has used ‘154 songs from all stages of his career’ through the analysis of which he explores his life and art. He explained the reasoning behind this by saying that when people get older ‘they go to a diary to recall the past’ but McCartney goes to his songs because they are the archives of his past.

Here’s what was inscribed in the video:

“‘When some people get to a certain age they go to a diary to recall the past but I have no such notebooks, what I have are my songs.’ Paul McCartney.

The Lyrics, November 2021″

This is what Paul McCartney wrote in the caption of his post:

“‘More often than I can count, I’ve been asked if I would write an autobiography, but the time has never been right. The one thing I’ve always managed to do, whether at home or on the road, is to write new songs.’ – Paul

In this extraordinary book, Paul recounts his life and art through the prism of 154 songs from all stages of his career. ‘THE LYRICS: 1956 to the Present’ by Paul McCartney is out November 2nd. Pre-order your copy via the link in bio.”
