The official and verified Twitter account of Pink Floyd has posted a recent photo and a message today and mourned Syd Barrett’s long-time buddy Duggie Fields who passed away at the age of 76 yesterday.

Duggie was one of the most famous British painters of the 20th century and after showing Marilyn Monroe with her head severed, he became famous worldwide. After his first-ever visit to the United States, he met the creator of Spiderman, Stan Lee, and shared the same room Syd Barrett after he decided to part ways with Pink Floyd.

According to the recently made announcement was made via his official Facebook account, Duggie has passed from this world at the age of 76 while he was still living in the same room he was sharing with Syd in Earl’s Court Square.

Here is what Pink Floyd‘s official Twitter account wrote:

“We were very sad to hear that Duggie Fields, an accomplished artist, fashion icon, and Syd Barrett’s friend and flatmate, died yesterday at the age of 76.

Our sincere condolences to his friends and family.”

Another celebrity who sent his condolences was Gary Kemp:

“So saddened to hear that the artist Duggie Fields has died. He was such an influence on style from his early days flat sharing with Syd Barrett through Glam and into the 80s.

He and Luciana his muse would always turn heads when entering Blitz in the late 70s. Both now sadly gone.”
