The official and verified Instagram account of Pink Floyd shared a new photo today and sent a farewell message after the death of VCS3 Synthesizer inventor and former Pink Floyd family member, Peter Zinovieff.

Zinovieff is considered as one of the most talented composers and music engineers of British history and he’s mostly known as the co-founder of Electronic Music Studios. In his half-decide-long career, he worked with many legends like Todd Rungren, David Bowie, White Noise, Krautrock, and Pink Floyd itself.

Today, the verified Instagram page of the band shared the bad news and announced that Peter passed away from this world at the age of 88. According to the official statement, Zinovieff died on the night of 23 June 2021 after being hospitalized for ten days just after falling at his property.

Here is the message of Pink Floyd:

“Our condolences to the friends and family of Peter Zinovieff, the British composer and synth pioneer, who has died. Peter’s company Electronic Music Studios (EMS) created instruments such as the portable VCS3 and Synthi A, which formed a key part of Pink Floyd’s sound on every album between 1972’s Obscured By Clouds and 1977’s Animals, with On The Run from 1973’s The Dark Side of The Moon being a particular example of their use.”
