In a recent interview for Guitar World, Queen‘s iconic guitarist Brian May revealed his thoughts about guitar master Eric Clapton after being voted as the number one guitarist of all time.

Last month, Queen guitarist Brian May was chosen as the greatest guitar player of all time with the votes of Total Guitar readers. In the list named ‘The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time,’ Brian was followed by Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, and Eric Clapton, respectively.

During a conversation for Guitar World, Brian May revealed his thoughts about the guitar master Eric Clapton and mentioned it was an actual honor to be named among these legends.

Here’s what Brian May stated about Eric Clapton during the interview:

“Well, I’m kind of embarrassed because Eric is still my hero, of course. And it’s just wonderful. It’s like when the people at the Oscars say, ‘It’s great to be in this kind of company.’ What an amazing honor.”

After being announced as the greatest guitarist of all time, Brian couldn’t hide his excitement and shared his gratitude with his fans in a previous post on Instagram. On the caption of his post, he stated:

Still speechless! But I’m happy I can inspire such works in talented people. Keep swiping, folks, to share some gems – and sometimes I feel some of you artists know me in ways that I don’t know myself.

Thanks for the lovely compliments. Thanks, Sarah Rugg for finding some of these – and the second artwork in this series is by Elisa Kent – lovely! If I missed any other credits off please tell me. 💥💥💥💥 And big thanks to you readers of Total Guitar for voting me to #1!”
