During the recent episode of Sammy Hagar’s AXS TV show Rock & Roll Road Trip, Queen guitarist Brian May talked about his feelings on late frontman Freddie Mercury.

ATX TV has shared the little section from the recent interview with Brian May in which he was talking about his passion for songwriting. He also mentioned his longing for doing some musical stuff for Freddie.

Here’s what he said:

“I like playing my guitar and I like instrumental stuff, but to me, a song is about the singer – and music is about songs because you have some message to convey and that’s what the singer does. The rest of it can be important, but it’s not as important as the person who’s putting across the idea.

I loved to write for Freddie. I loved to see him do his stuff with us. You would give Freddie something and he would make it into something else – he would take it to the next place. So I miss that, but I love working with Kerry and a new bunch of girls called Kings Daughters.”

As might remember, Queen legend Brian May was hospitalized after tearing buttocks while gardening last week. On Instagram, he shared a new update on his current health status and said:

I wrestle with the physical pain which has settled on me the last few days – so strong and so persistent that I hardly feel alive. I will take these lovely visions with me as I search for healing sleep tonight.”
