Rage Against The Machine’s bassist Tim Commerford has partnered with Ernie Ball Music Man for a brand new collaboration.

Ernie Ball was a musician who developed guitar-related products and accessories under a corporation of the same name. A division of the Ernie Ball corporation, Music Man is a guitar manufacturer known for its electric and bass guitars. Music Man produces high-end guitars since 1984 after Ernie Ball acquired the company.

Tim Commerford has been a part of the Music Man family for a long time. He was using an Ernie Ball Music Man StringRay as his main bass in the early days, and he is still using it for now. In a video shared by Ernie Ball on YouTube, he recalled that he first saw a Music Man guitar when he was just 18 years old. He then revealed that he got that StingRay, and used it to record the first RATM record.

Tim Commerford revealed during the video that:

“I literally was like 18 years old when I saw a Music Man StingRay. It was a blonde Sting Ray with a black pickguard, and it was at a pawn shop… I scraped up the money and I got it, and that bass became the bass I used to record the first Rage Against The Machine record and it was a big part of my life.”

According to a recent tweet by Ernie Ball, the company plans to release limited-edition basses with the collaboration of Tim Commerford. In the tweet, Ernie Ball introduced the brand new Tim Commerford Artist Series StingRay Bass Collection. The company then announced that the Tim Commerford collection can be ordered from their website.

Ernie Ball’s tweet read:

“Introducing the Tim Commerford Artist Series StingRay Bass Collection! Ernie Ball Music Man is excited to announce a brand-new collection of limited edition bass guitars with Tim Commerford, the legendary bassist of Rage Against The Machine.”
