Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek spoke in an interview with Hollywood Reporter and revealed that what Queen members thought about the movie.
Interviewer said “some of the original Queen bandmembers consulted on the film. Was there anything they didn’t want to show or didn’t want to be part of this story?” and Rami responded:
“I never got that impression. I will say this: They would love to deliver the entire Freddie Mercury story, but we have two hours. And in those two hours I know that those men want to celebrate Freddie’s life, and there was definitely a cognizant effort not to make this a hedonistic, salacious film.
I think we all would have loved to show more of Freddie’s relationship with Jim [Hutton] toward the end of his life. That relationship is absolutely gorgeous, and if I had it my way, boy, would I love to tack on another hour to this film and fill in a few gaps.
It’s never going to be perfect in fulfilling the story of a man who we could make countless documentaries about and countless miniseries about.”

A week ago, Queen guitarist Brian May has shared his thoughts on the movie and Rami Malek’s performance as Freddie Mercury. He said:
“He’s incredible… without doubt he’ll be on the nominations list for an Oscar and well deserved as well. He inhabited Freddie to the point where we even started to think of him as Freddie. Really remarkable.
We’ve lived with this project for nine years and it’s incredible to see it doing so well. It came out to s***ty reviews, as some of our work has before, but the public has embraced it magnificently.
Everybody gave 200%, from the actors and technicians to the production team and hair and make up, everyone. You don’t get any lukewarm responses. The guy who plays me should be getting awards all over.”
