The legendary bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flea has shared a rare photo of The Cars singer Ric Ocasek on his certified Instagram account today.

As you can read below, he penned down an emotional letter to his old-time friend Rick Ocasek, who has passed away at the age of 70 yesterday.

Here is his emotional letter:

Ahh man, say it ain’t so. I loved Ric Ocasek. What an interesting, smart, kind, funny man who made incredible records.

I loved those Cars albums when I was a teenager. Perfect pop songs with those wicked elliot easton guitar solos. Absolute candy.

Then he went and produced Rock For Light by the Bad Brains. As an adult I met him several times and he was gracious, funny and engaging.

Ahh man. Ahh damn. Bless his soul. R.I.P. Transcend to the other side Ric. So much love and appreciation from me. You’re All I Got Tonight.”

A fan named ethanpelland_ said:

“I truly wish more people from this generation listened to them. Underrated doesn’t even do them justice.”

Another fan commented:

“My brother and I would dance and sing to the Cars for hours in our teens switching off playing air instruments . Ric Ocasek’s songs brought pure joy ! R.I.P.”
