On a recent Instagram post, Red Hot Chili Peppers bass guitarist Flea congratulated his long-time friend and tattoo artist, Henk Schiffmacher, for the release of his new book who actually tattooed Red Hot Chili Peppers members since the beginning of their careers.
In the caption of his latest Instagram post, Flea mentioned what an important person Henk Schiffmacher is for the tattoo culture and pointed out the tattoo museum he established in the Netherlands. While he was congratulating Henk for his new book named, ‘Tattoo. 1730s-1970s. Henk Schiffmacher’s Private Collection,’ Flea also praised his talent as a tattoo artist.
Furthermore, Flea stated that Schiffmacher did almost every tattoo of Red Hot Chili Peppers members since the beginning and also revealed an interesting detail about their fifth studio album, ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magic.’
‘Blood Sugar Sex Magic’ is released in 1991, and it peaked number three in the US Billboard charts featuring the singles like ‘Give It Away,’ ‘Suck My Kiss,’ and more. According to Flea’s statement, Henk did a large part of the art for this iconic album.
Here’s how Flea praised his friend and the talented tattoo artist in the caption:
“Tripping out on Henk Schiffmacher’s Tattoo Museum new fat ass Taschen book delving deep into the history of tattoos.
Henk, pictured in the second photo with his wife Louise, is an important figure of tattoo culture, a creative man who curated a tattoo museum in Amsterdam through a lifetime of fascination with the form.
He’s tattooed the RHCP from the beginning and did a large part of the art for our Blood Sugar Sex Magic record. Congratulations to him on this book, through image and text, an organic outpouring of his knowledge and self.”
