Ringo Starr, best known for being the drummer of The Beatles, revealed his opinions about his former bandmate, bassist Paul McCartney during a recent interview, and apparently, McCartney is still the best according to Starr.
As you may know, The Beatles is, still to this day, the best-selling music act of all time thanks to their revolutionary aspect of music and iconic albums like ‘Abbey Road,’ ‘Rubber Soul,’ and ‘Revolver.’
Despite their success, the band only had a relatively short time period, a decade, to create music due to their break-up back in 1970. Since then The Beatles has lost its two members, first, frontman John Lennon’s death in December 1980, and second, the passing of the lead guitarist George Harrison on November 29, 2001.
The two remaining members, bassist Paul McCartney, and drummer Ringo Starr have a close friendship and they appear in each other’s works. Recently, McCartney appeared in the video for Starr’s brand new single ‘Here’s To The Nights.’ Ringo Starr also joined Sir Paul on the stage for the last night of his solo tour last year.
Recently, Ringo Starr opened up about his opinions on Paul McCartney during a recent interview with The Rolling Stone. Seemingly, Starr still considers McCartney as the most brilliant bassist and despite the new good players out there, McCartney is the one who shines for Starr.
Here is what Ringo Starr stated about McCartney’s bass playing:
“He’s still the most brilliant bass player in my life. There’s a lot of really good players out there, but I don’t know any that are as melodic as him, and he understands it right away.”
