Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 spoke in a recent interview with Big Machine Records and gave some details about his collaboration with Dave Mustaine.

John 5 recently announced his brand new record, ‘Sinner,’ which will be released on October 29. Prior to its release, the guitarist finally dropped the first single from the album, ‘Que Pasa.’

The 51-year-old musician used voice samples in the first place while recording the ‘Que Pasa,’ but he wanted to bring a person who is more familiar to the rock & metal audience. Therefore, John 5 collaborated with Megadeth’s frontman Dave Mustaine.

In the conversation, John 5 revealed that he used the voice samples of famous soul singer James Brown in the song, and this was one of the main reasons he decided to collaborate with Mustaine because he said that it is hard to top Brown’s voice.

The guitarist noted that Mustaine has the perfect growl and shared the gratitude and honor he felt to work with Dave Mustaine. John 5 concluded by saying that the instrumental song ‘Que Pasa’ suited Dave’s voice perfectly.

John 5 shared his thoughts about working with Dave Mustaine:

“It was a complete honor. ‘Cause there was a James Brown in there, and it’s pretty hard to top James Brown.

But Mustaine, it was just perfect ’cause he’s got that growl, that voice. I mean, the delivery was epic, and I’m super excited and super honored to have him on the track.”

I love those instrumental songs with cool vocal hooks or it could be anything like that. It just makes it so different and interesting. It just came together perfect.

I’m super happy. When I played it for him, he was down with it. I’m really, really happy with it.”
