Former Pink Floyd vocalist Roger Waters posted a photo on his Instagram account to announce an NYC rally to show his reaction against the 500-days of wrongful detention of an American lawyer.

Along with his legendary music career, Roger Waters has been showing interest in the social and political issues around the world. He often shares his opinions on the unspoken subjects during the interviews he appears as well as on social media platforms.

Recently on Instagram, Waters shared a new post to announce that he will be joining an NYC Rally to protest 500 days of wrongful detention for the American lawyer, Steven Donziger.

As you may know, Donzinger stood up to an oil giant, Chevron, and the case he won against the company led them to withdraw their operations in Ecuador. He also helped people in Ecuador win a $9.8 billion verdict against the oil company for causing the pollution in the Amazon rainforest. However, Steven has been under house arrest for the last 500 days due to the charges of contempt of court related to his case against Chevron.

With his latest announcement, Roger Waters showed his support for Dozinger and urged his fans to join him to protest the wrongful detention of a man who fought for the rights of indigenous Ecuadorians. Waters stated that he will be joining lawyer and human rights advocate Sarah Leah Whitson and civil rights lawyer Ron Kuby to talk about the current status of Dozinger’s case on a live stream.

Here’s what Roger Waters wrote in the caption:

“Today! Join the live stream here. #FreeSteven”
