Former Pink Floyd bassist and co-founder Roger Waters recently posted a tweet on his Twitter account and announced that he will be going live with Michael Smerconish on SiriusXM to discuss the unfair and illegallegalattacks issued by the Department of Transport against The Shinnecock Nation.

There is no doubt that Roger Waters likes using his Twitter account to share his views on crucial social and political matters and to raise awareness amongst his fans and followers. Waters has made it to our headlines numerous times before with his brave stance in support of the Palestine Reaction Movement, the wrongful detention of Steven Dozinger, and the case of Julian Assange.

In his recent tweet, he joined the conversation around the legal but in fact illegal attacks of the Department of Transport against the construction of the second billboard on the sovereign land of the Shinnecock Nation. As you may recall, a similar discussion had taken place back in 2019 when a 61-foot-tall electronic billboard was installed by the Shinnecock Tribe on the South of Sunrise Highway.

Similarly, on Thursday 28 of January, the Shinnecock Indian Nation started the construction of the second billboard on the North of Sunrise Highway but the Department of Transport once again issued a stop-work order. The Shinnecock Nation was upset upon receiving those news as the foundation of the sign was laid a year ago on tribal property, which means that the State has no authority there.

Roger Waters who was also highly upset upon receiving this news posted a tweet and announced that he will be joining Michael Smerconish to discuss ‘The Dept. of Transport’s illegal attacks on The Shinnecock Nation.’ He invited his fans to join him on the radio show and said that the interview will re-air at 11 pm on the same day.

Here’s what Roger Waters said in his tweet:

“11:04 am ET Monday, Roger Waters will talk to Michael Smerconish on SiriusXM P.O.T.U.S. (channel 124) about NY State and The Dept. of Transport’s illegal attacks on The Shinnecock Nation. The interview will re-air at 11 pm ET.”
