Van Halen’s Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony paid their tribute to Eddie Van Halen on the first anniversary of his death via Instagram.
Eddie Van Halen was among the best guitarists in the world. His fast-paced tapping technique and solos inspired most of the community. Unfortunately, he had been dealing with lots of health problems for almost two decades.
In his last years, the guitar icon was battling throat and lung cancer. Unfortunately, Eddie passed away on October 6, 2020, due to a stroke at the age of 65, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
On the first anniversary of Eddie’s death, his former bandmates Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony mourned his death and showed their respect for the guitarist. Sammy mentioned that he can’t believe it has been since Eddie passed and said his music will live forever.
On the other hand, Michael stated that his time with Van Halen was the best period of his life and pointed out that he will never forget any moment he spent with Eddie on and off stage. Also, Anthony proudly exclaimed that he will continue carrying the Van Halen flag his entire life.
Sammy Hagar on the passing of Eddie Van Halen:
“I can’t believe it’s been a year. The man is gone but the music lives on.“
Michael Anthony mourned Eddie’s death with these words:
“One year ago today we lost a phenomenal guitarist brother and friend. Ed, I’ll never forget any of the time we had together on and off stage.
Through the highs and lows, Van Halen was the best time of my life. I’ll continue to wave the mighty VH flag high brother!”
