Former Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar posted a photo with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith in honor of his 59th birthday, however, the fans were more interested in a possible tribute to the late guitar legend Eddie Van Halen.

As you may recall, the co-founder and renowned guitarist of Van Halen, Eddie sadly passed away on October 6, 2020, after his long battle with throat cancer. His beloved son Wolfgang Van Halen announced the tragic news of his father’s death with a statement on social media platforms.

Recently on Instagram, ex-Van Halen singer and the current member of The Circle, Sammy Hagar shared a picture with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith to celebrate the iconic musician’s 59th birthday. In the caption of his post, Sammy mentioned what a great comedian Chad was besides being a badass drummer.

Here’s how Sammy Hagar celebrated Smith’s birthday:

Happy birthday to my buddy, badass drummer, Mr. Chad Smith!

PS I watched your movie Stepbrothers last night in honor of your birthday. You were so good in that movie I laughed my ass off. Chad you’re such a great comedian as well as a drummer!”

However, in the comment section of Sammy’s post, a fan named Bob Higgins asked Hagar to collaborate with Van Halen members Alex Van Halen, Wolfgang, David Lee Roth, and Michael Anthony to pay proper tribute to Eddie Van Halen.

Here’s what the fan stated in his comment:

“Please please please get Alex, Wolf, Dave, and Michael and give Eddie a proper tribute. Not one of this star-studded guitar jerk off sessions.”

Following the fan’s suggestion to team up with his former bandmates and plan a farewell to Eddie, Sammy Hagar responded with a simple emoji of two glasses of champagne which made the fans think he was not against the idea of being a part of a proper tribute to Eddie Van Halen.
