Former Van Halen member and current The Circle frontman, Sammy Hagar, posted a rare photo on his verified Instagram account today and recalled the unforgettable day that he lost his voice on stage while performing with Van Halen.

As you may already know, a summer rock concert called ‘Texxas World Music Festival‘ was held in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl in 1988, and it was the second appearance of Van Halen in Texas. After a couple of songs, the former Van Halen frontman lost his voice all of a sudden. Sammy himself promised the audience that VH will come back to Dallas in a short time to make a free show and they did a couple of months later.

According to the caption of the post, that rare picture was taken by an 8-track tape collector named 8-Track-Guy. After sharing the rare photo of him and Michael Anthony, over 20K followers of Sammy liked the post including ‘Sammy Hagar and the Circle’ member Jason Bonham. Michael also made the most-liked comment under the post by recalling that day.

Here is what Sammy wrote in the caption:

“I lost my voice at the Cotton Bowl monsters of rock show in 1988? and I told the audience of over (70k) we would come back and do a free show. We did, in the streets of Dallas. It was awesome!”

And here is the comment of Michael:

“What a crazy show that was!!!”
