Former Van Halen star who currently works with The Circle, Sammy Van Hagar, was the latest interview guest of Ultimate Classic Rock’s Matt Wardlaw this week and talked about his decision to play all ‘OU812’ songs during his upcoming show.
You might remember that yesterday, Hagar, made a new announcement about his upcoming plans on his official social media accounts and stated that he had to cancel the ‘Cabo Wabo Cantina Birthday Party’ due to coronavirus measures. Right after the announcement, Hagar talked about what he will do in the upcoming Las Vegas event.
In his interview with UCR, Sammy Hagar revealed that he will try to blow everyone’s minds with his performance. While The Circle frontman shared his plans on playing all songs of the legendary Van Halen album ‘OU812’ in the upcoming shows, he also was asked whether he ever invited the former VH frontman David Lee Roth to come to Cabo.
Sammy admitted Roth is invited anywhere he goes saying:
“I certainly have. When I did the High Tide Beach Party, I invited Roth. I told him he could headline the whole event. I’d play before him. Not because I feel like I’m less than him, but because I was trying to rope him in. But he’s not a fun guy. He doesn’t play well with others, I don’t think.
I think that would be the way to put it. I’m not even sure that he’d want to do a tour [together] again – not that I would, because I definitely wouldn’t, from the last experience. But I don’t even know if he’d ever want to do that again. I have no idea where his head’s at. But he’s invited anytime, anyplace, anywhere I go.
I would play the old Van Halen stuff. Me and Mike – I’d sing background and let [Roth] do his thing. It’d be awesome. But I’m not sure it will ever happen! It’s so tongue-in-cheek to me, to think about him and I ever doing anything ever again.”
In the same interview, Sammy shared the first-ever memory of him going to Vegas by stating thAT famous bands were playing there for the last time before retirement. He also talked about people who still think Las Vegas is a Sin City by stating he’s not a gambler and he does not really care about that at all.
