Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar recently spoke to Press-Telegram about his upcoming performance in the Afterburner Festival and opened up about his biggest fears and nightmares.

As you probably know, Afterburner Festival will start in Huntington Beach, on October 1, and will feature various rock bands and musicians, such as Sammy Hagar and The Circle, Umphrey’s McGee, and 90’s Rockshow. It drew great attention, and some of the tickets are still available right now.

The festival will open with a Pacific Airshow with breathtaking performances by The U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Air Force, Canadian Forces Snowbirds, Army and Marine Corps teams. Hagar revealed that he was invited to experience this extreme adventure in the sky, but he had to refuse.

During his recent interview, Sammy Hagar unveiled the reason behind his unwillingness to join them, saying that he is afraid of dark and height. He defined himself as ‘the biggest chicken in the world,’ which is why it is impossible for him to try extreme sports.

Hagar stated in his interview that:

I’m the biggest chicken in the world. I’m afraid of the dark. I’m not jumping out of no plane. ‘Hey, Sammy, wanna go for a ride?’ No, I do not. They’ve got these new jets, too, that are even faster and can do more crazy stuff. Honest to God, I do not want to go upside down at a hundred miles an hour and 50 feet off the ground. I don’t see any reason for me to do that.”

Thus, it appears that the Pacific Airshow triggered Hagar’s phobias as a person since he seems to be a person who is scared of many things. This seems rather unusual for a rockstar as the rock n’ roll lifestyle embodies the notions of risk and danger. However, the Red Rocker is quite different from many rockstars.
