One of the best-selling music artists of all time, Elton John, shared a post on his official Instagram page after the passing of EastEnders star Barbara Windsor due to Alzheimer’s disease.
As you may know, Barbara Windsor was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease back in 2014 and she has chosen not to make the condition public, except for her friends and colleagues. Later in 2018, Windsor’s husband, Scott Mitchell, publicly revealed her condition. Mitchell said that Windsor’s health and mental state had been deteriorating, and there had been moments when she no longer recognized him.
In August 2020, BBC News reported that Windsor had been moved into a care home in London and she, unfortunately, passed away at the age of 83 on December 10, 2020.
Since Barbara Windsor has been everybody’s sweetheart with her Peggy Mitchell role in EastEnders, after her loss, many artists and even politicians paid tribute to her including the members of the Royal family, Prince William, Prince Charles, and his wife Camilla.
Recently, Sir Elton John also shared a picture of himself with Barbara Windsor on his official Instagram page. In the caption of his post, John paid tribute to the legendary actress by referring to her as the ‘biggest ray of light’ and the sweetest angel.
Here is what John said:
“The world has lost the biggest ray of light. And heaven has the sweetest and funniest angel.”
