The legendary English rockstar, Elton John, recently posted a photo on his Instagram account and promoted a 21st-century star by saying that their work was the best song and record that was released in 2020.
Elton John is one of the most accomplished and famous rockstars of all time. His musical career, the effort he always put in to raise awareness on important causes, and his unending support to charities and projects, was congratulated by Queen Elizabeth II, who knighted Elton John in 1998.
Sir Elton John has had one of the longest music careers of all time. He started his career as a musician in 1962 and he has been creating music ever since. Being such a phenomenal persona in the rock world makes his views and opinions on rising stars all the more valuable and noteworthy. With his latest Instagram post, Elton John showed his support to an artist who has been enjoying increasing fame in the past years.
As you probably know, the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards of 2021 nominees were announced just a day ago but it looks like Sir Elton John does not agree with the Recording Academy‘s decisions. He recently posted a photo of a successful musician and shared his personal views.
In his latest Instagram post, he argued that in his ‘humble opinion,’ ‘Blinding Lights‘ by The Weeknd should have been nominated as the ‘Song of the Year’ and the ‘Record of the Year.’ Even though he started his message by saying that this is his ‘humble opinion,’ he finished his message with the hashtag Grammy Snub.
As you may know, The Weeknd also made accusations about Grammy Awards and claimed that they actually didn’t nominate him in any of the categories because of his upcoming performance on the 2021 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Apparently, they wanted him to solely perform for the Grammy’s, however, The Weeknd accepted the offer to take the stage in the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Numerous fans and followers agreed with Elton John and even stated that they should boycott the Grammys for not nominating people who deserved it. It looks like Sir Elton John was once again the influential rockstar who was able to say what people thought.
Here’s what Elton John said in the caption of his Instagram post:
“In my humble opinion…
Song of the Year.
Record of the Year.
The Weeknd #GrammySnub”
