On a recent Instagram post, Slayer and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt mourned the legacy of Ronnie James Dio in the 10th death anniversary of him and wrote an emotional letter for Dio.

As you might already know, legendary frontman Ronnie James Dio diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2009 and canceled all of the concerts in the same year. After one year, Dio passed away and saddened the rock/metal community.

Gary shared a rare-known picture with Dio and shared his feeling about losing a legend like him. He stated that Ronnie was the most gracious man in the rock scene he has ever met and said that it was an honor to meet him.

Here is what Gary Holt wrote:

“RIP Ronnie. Most gracious man in rock I have ever met. It was an honor to be chest punched by you in this picture. Thanks for letting me interrogate you about Ritchie Blackmore over lunch that day.”

A fan named Janie added this comment:

“Miss you, Ronnie! 😢 Wish I could’ve met you!”

Another fan named Solal said:

“Such a legend. Metal would never be the same without him!”
