Exodus and Slayer guitarist, Gary Holt, recently posted a photo on his Instagram account and showed off some of his favorite guitars which he recently picked up from ‘the dragon’s lair’ and moved to the office in his new house.
Gary Holt is one of the most popular and well-appreciated guitarists of the past decades. He first started gaining fame as the lead guitarist and main songwriter of Exodus which is considered to be one of the ‘big eight‘ thrash metal bands alongside Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Anthrax, Death Angel, and Overkill.
It must be a great honor for Gary Holt to be a member of two of these eight bands as in 2011, Holt was hired by Slayer to fill in for Jeff Hanneman after he contracted necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating disease). Holt was confirmed to be a permanent member in 2013 upon Hanneman’s passing and remained in Slayer until their disbandment in 2019.
As his career spans over 40 years, it shouldn’t be surprising that Gary Holt has a great collection of guitars. With his recent Instagram post, Holt showed off some of his favorites while saying that these are the ones that he picked to move to the new office at his new house.
Here’s what Gary Holt said in the caption of his recent Instagram post:
“Decided to head to the dragon’s lair today and FINALLY grab some guitars to bring to the new house, other than what I had and what I had traded for. So I snatched up the Blood Splatter V by ESP guitars, my Alphonse Mucha guitar by Lionheart Guitars, and my 1984 Yamaha SBG300. They look good in my office!”
