In an interview with WFPK radio station, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor revealed why he avoided using political themes in his solo album, ‘CMFT,’ yet didn’t hesitate to criticize President Trump and his leadership abilities.

As you may recall, the talented lead singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour, Corey Taylor has been working on his forthcoming solo album for a long time now. Corey previously announced that his highly-anticipated album, ‘CMFT,’ would be released on October 2, 2020. A few months ago, Taylor also released the first two singles from his upcoming album, ‘CMFT Must Be Stopped’ and ‘Black EyesBlue.’

Recently, Corey Taylor joined a conversation with Kyle Meredith from WFPK radio station and shared some details of his solo album. During the interview, Taylor mentioned why he didn’t use political themes on his new songs even though he showed his reaction against the statements of President Donald Trump often on social media platforms or during the interviews he joined.

Here’s what Corey Taylor stated about his choice of avoiding to use political subjects on his solo album:

“Honestly, I actually hint at it on ‘Culture Head’, and I come at it from the standpoint of being in the middle. Obviously, I’m much more liberal than people would even realize, but I have problems on both sides.

With all of the rhetoric kind of flying over my fucking head, it’s really about looking around and going, ‘Really?'”

Furthermore, despite the lack of political lyrical themes on ‘CMFT,’ during the conversation, Corey criticized the leadership abilities of President Trump by calling him the ‘Cheeto‘ and continued:

“At this point in time, we need to be looking for things to fucking bring us together — not tear us apart. But that comes from leadership. And, obviously, we’ve seen that the Cheeto can’t lead unless there is…

Well, he can’t lead — period — but he’s not comfortable when there’s not a ton of drama and a shit-ton of chaos going on. And that’s not the way to run a country — it just isn’t.”

Additionally, in a previous interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Corey Taylor commented on the actions of Donald Trump by calling him a ‘moron‘ and stated:

“It is embarrassing that he is the ‘leader of the free world.’ I will never give him the qualification for that shit. He can’t go away fast enough.

You can paint him as racist, or egotistical, or a tyrant, or all of this shit: He’s a moron and the people who voted for him? Fucking morons too. It doesn’t matter why they voted for him, whether they are racist, or they want money.”
