During a recent conversation for Knotfest, Slipknot and Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor revealed that one of his new songs was dedicated to AC/DC frontman Bon Scott.
As you might remember, in an earlier interview, Slipknot and Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor stated that he had been working on his solo album and recorded around 25 songs within three weeks. Corey also mentioned the release date of his solo project would be some time in 2021.
Here’s what Corey Taylor said about the album earlier:
“We went in, we recorded 98 to 99 percent of the music live in the studio. The only thing we overdubbed was vocals and piano and some acoustic. And we did 25 songs in two and a half weeks.
All I know is that we did an insane amount of work in two and a half weeks — something that we thought was gonna take two months — and we destroyed it. We were doing a song a day. And we got done, and we were, like, ‘Eh, okay. What are we gonna do now?’ Everything has come together so quickly that it’s crazy.”
During a recent conversation for Knotfest, Corey shared new details about the upcoming album.
“This is my time to rejoice, basically; this is the sunshine kind of popping through the clouds, and it’s me basically being thankful for what I have now.
Being thankful for where I am, being thankful for the people in my life, the people that I still have, friends who I’ve had, some of my friends go all the way back to high school.
So it’s like, it’s a good feeling to wake up every day and go, ‘You know what? I’m alright, everything is going to be OK.'”
Moreover, Taylor answered questions about the autobiographical side of his new songs in the album and said:
“I don’t know if it’s so much autobiographical. Honestly, I mean, the album itself, there are moments that are very dedicated to people like my wife, people like my friends, but there’s such a light-hearted approach to it.
It’s still some of the best songs you’re ever gonna find, and I challenge anybody to prove me wrong. So, it’s my nod to the people who made me who I am, and it’s a fucking party album straight-up.”
Apparently, he dedicated one of his songs to AC/DC singer Bon Scott and here’s the reason why:
“There are songs on here that are absolutely nods to my influences. There’s a song on here that is absolutely a dedication to Bon Scott and my love for AC/DC in general, and the whole album has such a great rock vibe.”
