Guitar virtuoso Steve Vai celebrated the 35th anniversary of David Lee Roth’s debut album Eat ‘Em And Smile by sharing a new post on his official Instagram account.
Before starting his solo career and making a name for himself as a guitar virtuoso, Steve Vai had played with Frank Zappa, Alcatrazz, and David Lee Roth in between 1985-89, recording three albums with him.
Immediately after joining David Lee Roth’s solo band, they started to make a new album and released the debut studio album of Roth in the next year, Eat ‘Em And Smile, following a great single named ‘Yankee Rose.’
Steve Vai wanted to recall the days when they started to record the first album of Roth and said that they were ready to blow up bridges, which he thinks that they did at the end of the day.
Furthermore, Vai also mentioned that he remembers those days with the David Lee Roth band and said that the rehearsing, recording, touring, and the bond they had was something glorious.
In Steve Vai’s words, he said:
“Congratulations to my Eat Em and Smile brothers on 35 years of this powerful recording.
I woke up one day in the David Lee Roth band surrounded by massive rock talent and a forward attitude that we were ready to blow up all bridges, and I believe we did!
I reflect on those amazing youthful days, the rehearsing, recording, touring, and the bond we had as a band. It felt truly glorious.”
