On Instagram, System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan shared a quote from English writer D. H. Lawrence referring to the current protests in America and added: ‘We are not fighting for ourselves.’
As you might remember, John Dolmayan has been openly supporting the statements of the 45th President of America, Donald Trump for a while now. Since the beginning of the protests against racism and police brutality, John has also been showing his reaction against the violent behaviors of the protestors on social media.
Even though some of John’s fans and followers supported his statements, some of them were not agreed with him. He also posted those reactions and thanked his followers for contributing to the discussion.
Recently on Instagram, John Dolmayan shared a quote from English writer and poet D. H. Lawrence whose writing mostly explored the dehumanizing effects of modernity. The quote John shared, implied that we actually fight for the future generations, even though they wouldn’t be aware of:
“Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves.”
On the caption of his post, John stated his feelings about the quote and he had a message for his fans and followers:
“Whatever you think you’re fighting for remembering it’s not for ourselves we fight but rather for future generations.“
