Guns N’ Roses is no doubt among the greatest rock bands of all time. Formed in 1985, the band released numerous commercially successful albums, including their debut ‘Appetite For Destruction,’ which featured their classic ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine.’ That album has sold near 30 million copies worldwide and became the best-selling debut album in the United States.

Aside from selling millions of albums and topping the charts, GN’R also received numerous awards. However, the band’s line-up hasn’t been as steady as their popularity. Their current lineup features Axl Rose, Duff McKagan, Slash, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer, and Melissa Reese.

In 1989, Matt Sorum left The Cult and joined Guns N’ Roses to replace Steven Adler. He appeared on three GN’R albums, performed throughout the band’s ‘Use Your Illusion Tour,’ and played drums on all 194 shows. However, in 1996, Axl Rose fired Sorum from the band following an argument.

In 1999, Sorum rejoined The Cult and performed on their reunion album. Sorum’s other musical efforts include co-founding Velvet Revolver, founding the touring project Kings Of Chaos, and drumming for Hollywood Vampires since 2015. Apart from making music, Matt Sorum has other interests too. Let’s learn more about the drummer’s business ventures.

Matt Sorum Is Also An Entrepreneur And The Founder Of Six Companies

The successful drummer Matt Sorum is the founder of six companies. Moreover, he has a spot on the Global Blockchain Business Council of UCLA. Sorum is also a business person who gets together with global leaders in business, government, and academia each year at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Talking about his business interests, Sorum told The Entertainer Magazine that he is in his entrepreneurial phase, trying new and creative ideas. He then claimed that he is not forcing himself into business, but it comes to him naturally as he likes challenges. Sorum then argued that being an entrepreneur is no different from trying to make a successful record.

Matt Sorum told The Entertainer Magazine about his business ventures that:

“I’m really into my entrepreneurial phase. I’m trying new ideas and being creative that way. On my music side of things, I don’t force myself into the business. It just organically comes to me.

I like challenging myself as an entrepreneur. It’s no different than being in a band and trying to make a great record that’s going to be successful.”

Although he has a successful and prolific career as a drummer, it seems Matt Sorum does not settle for what he achieved in the music business. Recently, he announced he’s also working on his book ‘Double Talkin’ Jive: True Rock N’ Roll Stories From The Drummer Of Guns N’ Roses, The Cult And Velvet Revolver.’ The book is about key moments in Sorum’s life and will be released on September 7.
