Deeply saddening his fans, the former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison has passed away on July 26, 2021, at the age of 46. The tragic audio of the 911 call that reveals the moment his dead body was found has recently surfaced.
Joey Jordison is considered among the greatest drummers of all time. Aside from being one of the founding members of Slipknot, he had also performed with several other bands including Rob Zombie, Metallica, Korn, and more. With Slipknot, he appeared on four studio albums as well as producing the live album ‘9.0: Live.’
On July 26, 2021, Joey Jordison’s family issued a statement with which they revealed that he died in his sleep peacefully without specifying a cause of death. After the sad news, his fellow musicians including John 5, Rob Zombie, Shawn Crahan, and Charlie Benante, expressed their condolences.
In a 911 call that was obtained by TMZ, a woman claiming to be Jordison’s ex-girlfriend said there are numerous signs that made her think Jordison is dead. She then mentioned that his family is out of town with whom he was out of contact, so she went to check on him. She then claimed that she was hit by a bad smell coming from the house as soon as she went there, and broke into tears when the operator asked her Jordison’s full name.
According to TMZ, she told the 911 operator in the call the following:
“Hi, I need an officer’s assistance, please. My name is Amanda. My ex-boyfriend lives at this address. I drove up today because his family is out of town, and he was out of contact with the family. The officers I spoke to yesterday told me they cannot come into the house without a family member.
I drove up because I’m just worried that something happened to him. He is a very bad alcoholic and has some health issues. I’m in the garage right now. I opened the door that goes into the house and the garage. I did not go in yet but the smell hit me immediately, and I think he is dead. There is a really bad smell coming from the house as soon as opened the door. I just shut it and I’m standing at the garage, I don’t want to go in there alone and I don’t know what I’m going to do here.
I haven’t seen any motion. I have motion sensors on the house, I still take care of all the bills and everything, order food and things of that nature. I have cameras that did not detect any motion in days. I sent some friends over here to knock on the door and the police couldn’t get any response.
But, you know, I maintain the lawn, I maintain the garbage. I have people that are handling everything. So it does not look like things are just right looking from the outside. But there is a really small, strong odor as soon as I opened the door.
His name is Nathan Jordison. J. O. R. D. I. S. O. N. His date of birth was April 26, 1975. Thank you.”
