On Instagram, a fan page dedicated to Freddie Mercury named ‘Mercury_Mylove,’ posted a picture of Freddie with his cat and shared a statement from his personal assistant revealing his love and dedication to his cats.
The picture on the post shared by one of Freddie Mercury’s fan pages presented Freddie posing with one of his cats at his Stafford Terrace home in London in 1978. On the caption of the post, there was written a statement by Peter Freestone, the personal assistant of Freddie.
Peter explained how much Freddie cared for his cats, ‘Tom‘ and ‘Jerry.’ Freddie was trying to be there for his cats even while he was away from home for a short time. As Peter stated when Freddie was outside of London for a while, he often called Mary, his long-time life partner, and asked her to put the cats on the phone.
Peter Freestone explained Freddie’s dedication to his cats:
“Whenever Freddie was away from London, every now and then he had an urge to ‘call the cats’. He’d get to a hotel, we’d dial through to Stafford Terrace and he really would talk to his cats. Mary would hold Tom and Jerry in turn up to the receiver to listen to Freddie talking. This continued throughout the years with all the succeeding feline occupants of his houses.”
