During a recent interview with Mojo, The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richard talked about his struggles against heroin and cigarette.
He said that kicking heroin is easier that quitting smoking. Here’s the statement:
“I have tried. So far, unsuccessfully. Lou Reed claimed nicotine was harder to quit than heroin. It is.
Quitting heroin is like hell, but it’s a short hell. Cigarettes are just always there, and you’ve always done it. I just pick ’em up and light ’em up without thinking about it.”
“Lately, in fact – spread the news – I’ve managed to cut it down by a substantial amount every day.
I’ve knocked the hard stuff on the head. I have a little wine with meals, and a Guinness or a beer or two.”

Back in November 2018, he revealed the biggest difference between touring the U.S and Europe/UK.
“The difference is we used to do it in a station wagon. America was a very different place in the middle Sixties. Quite honestly, I can’t believe I’ve been around this long, man. I’ve watched this country grow up. I know it better than most Americans, because I’m older!”
