As reported by Stereogum, the Smashing Pumpkins recently announced that they would perform a free concert before hitting the road with Jane’s Addiction in the following month.
The Smashing Pumpkins, who wrapped up their Rock Invasion 2 Tour a few months ago, are teaming up with Jane’s Addiction for the Spirits On Fire Tour, which will kick off in October and conclude in November. Poppy and Meg Myers will open on select dates as additional support.
The news of the upcoming tour came weeks after Jeff Schroeder had talked in an interview about the latest record that they finished to follow up their 2020’s ‘Cyr.’ However, before the tour officially begins, the Smashing Pumpkins have planned a free ‘intimate club performance‘ at Irving Plaza in New York on September 22.
The show will take place in partnership with Audacy, ALT 92.3, Live Nation, Thirty Tigers, and Red Light Management. The private show will offer fans a glimpse of what’s to come for the arena dates, which kick off in October. There is the possibility that the band will play tracks from their newly finished forthcoming album that will show the fans what they have in store.
