The co-founder and also the frontman of the famous punk rock band Blink-182 and also the member of Angels & Airwaves, Tom Delonge, has taken to his official Instagram account today and mourned his long-time buddy and famous guitar tech Doug Reesh.
As you might already know, Doug Reesh was part of the Blink-182 family for years and he was the long-time guitar tech of the band. While his cause of death is not fully confirmed just yet, according to the letter that was written by Tom DeLonge, he was more than a ‘guitar tech’ for the band members.
In the letter, Tom stated that he cared for his children when he was on stage, toned his guitar flat, and supported him throughout his whole music career.
After sharing the post, both Blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves fans went to the comment section to send their condolences to Doug Reesh. While over 30K followers of Tom have pushed the like button, Travis Baker of Blink-182 was one of the users who showed his respect to Doug.
Here is the emotional letter of Tom DeLonge:
“Doug, I love you. You were such an amazing man. You supported me throughout my many musical lives, and I always found you to be loyal, kind, caring, and wise. When I got skin cancer, you were the only one that shed tears… When I was having a bad day, you wrote jokes on my setlist to make me smile…
When I slipped and fell flat on my face in front of 7000 people, you taped the outline of my body on the floor to get a laugh from the band as we walked on stage the following night. You cared for my children each night on the side of the stage when Jonas and Ava were so small they couldn’t see…You tuned my guitar flat because I hit the strings so hard I needed the variation to be in tune.”
“You did everything a modest guitar player could have hoped for when the pressure was enormous. But- what you did best, was be my friend. The world was a better place with you, and now heaven will be a better place with you, as well. 🤘🏼❤️ To your next Adventure- Life’s waiting to begin…”
