The co-founder and former co-lead vocalist of Blink-182, Tom DeLonge, recently posted a photo of himself on his Instagram account and excited his fans with his latest news considering Angels & Airwaves upcoming album and thanked their fans for their immense support and patience.

As you probably know, Angels & Airwaves was formed in 2005, after Blink-182 went on hiatus. The band has released five studio albums, the documentary film ‘Start the Machine,’ the science fiction drama film ‘Love,’ an animated short film, comic books, and a live-action film in 2015.

That is the reason why DeLonge had previously stated that the band is not just concentrating on music but rather, his bandmates and DeLonge see it as ‘an art project‘ that uses various mediums to reach their audience. Angels & Airwaves signed a record contract with Rise Records in the spring of 2019 and following that they released a single, ‘Rebel Girl.’

The band released another single after that, ‘Kiss & Tell,’ and announced that they’re planning a winter tour which would start in December 2019, but their tour was cut short due to DeLonge’s upper respiratory infection and later because of the pandemic. Angels & Airwaves was supposed to release their sixth album in 2020 but the release was also postponed.

In the spring of 2020, the band released another single ‘All Thats Left I Love‘ and all the profits made from the song were donated to Feeding America’s COVID-19 relief fund. With their final single release, they signaled that they have gotten back to recording their sixth album despite the pandemic, and DeLonge’s latest Instagram post confirmed the rumors.

In the caption of his post, DeLonge said that the first five songs for their new album have been recorded and have now been sent off to be mixed and that the next five will be sent in the next couple of weeks. He thanked their fans for their unending love and assured them that their new album will be worth the wait as ‘its our best yet.’

Here’s what Tom DeLonge said:

“What a great day. Sending 5 songs off to be mixed – the final stage in a song’s evolution from the birth of the idea, to over 100 tracks diligently crafted with sounds, passion, and goosebumps.

Soon, another 5 songs will be sent over in the next couple of weeks to close out this chapter. This Angels & Airwaves album has been 3 years in the making, and it’s our best yet. Thank you for all your patience, support, and love. 😎”
