Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave legend Tom Morello has posted a photo of late Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhoads on Instagram.
He wrote an emotional letter to Randy as follows:
“37 years ago today #RandyRhoads passed away in a plane crash at the age of 25. The small body of work he left behind is stunning in it’s innovation, passion, technique, melodic composition, and kick ass rocking-ness.
The combination of badass riffs, the JAMMING solos, and classical music underpinnings are peerless. His poster was on my wall when I was practicing 8 hours a day because he was a musician first, and rock star second.
On days off on tour he would take classical guitar lessons, always learning and growing, exhibiting both confidence and humility. This past week I taught my 7 year old “Crazy Train” on guitar and we’ve been jamming it daily keeping Randy’s music alive and rocking in the next generation.”
