Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello posted recent photos on his Instagram and revealed his ideas about legalising the marijuana.

Morello said that with every day that passes, almost 100 people in New Jersey are getting arrested for marijuana-related charges and this prohibition must end.

Here is his statement:

“No retreat baby, no surrender. Last night at The Stone Pony.

There are two bills in New Jersey that can advance social and racial justice in the state: marijuana legalization and restrictions on solitary confinement.

We need your help to get lawmakers to pass both.
I had the chance today to join survivors of solitary confinement and hear their chilling, heartbreaking stories. A broad coalition of New Jerseyans – www.njcaic.org – supports a bill that needs to move now. We’re urging New Jersey lawmakers to take bold steps to curb the use of solitary confinement.

We have to end mass incarceration and the racial disparities it carries with it. An important step to reforming criminal justice and restoring people’s lives is legalizing marijuana.

Let’s be clear: marijuana legalization is a racial justice issue, period. With every day that passes, nearly 100 people in New Jersey will be arrested for marijuana-related charges. Worse, Black New Jerseyans are arrested at three times the rate of white people for marijuana-related charges, despite similar usage rates. This racial disparity – and the devastation of prohibition – MUST end.
