Tom Morello, widely known for his tenure with Rage Against the Machine and then Audioslave, shared a video on his official Instagram page and revealed his most important tool since the beginning of his career, wah pedal.

A wah pedal or wah-wah pedal is a tone filter, also known as an envelope filter, that a musician can control with their feet in order to alter the tone of the guitar. Its name comes from its similarity to the human voice, which may also rapidly glide through tonal frequencies.

Tom Morello shared a post on his official Instagram page announcing that he now has his own wah pedal named Tom Morello Cry Baby Wah with Jim Dunlop and he stated that the wah-wah pedal has been one of the most important tools in his guitar armory since the very beginning of his career.

Here is what he said in the caption section of his post:

“Check out my signature Jim Dunlop USA Cry Baby Wah Wah pedal that has been one of the most important tools in my guitar arsenal since the very beginning.”

During his announcement video, Tom Morello opened up about his usage of the wah-wah pedal and stated that it has been essential and helped him to find his own voice. Morello also stated that this particular pedal has been one of the biggest parts of his musical career.

Here is what Morello said in the video:

“While I have always endeavored to play a lot of crazy unorthodox sounds, I only have a limited number of rather orthodox pedals. So of course, the wah has been essential and really began my journey of finding my own voice and finding out who I was on the instrument.

Happy to share there is an opportunity for people to get into the particular pedal that has been a huge part of my musical life for them to unlock their own creativity with.”
