Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello posted an old but gold picture with Tool guitarist Adam Jones on Instagram and revealed how they initially met each other.
Recently, the talented guitarist Tom Morello shared a rarely seen picture of himself jamming with Adam Jones in his basement in Libertyville, Illinois. As you can see in the picture below, Jones and Morello were both looking so young, and they had the same energy they have now. Also, it is clear to see how close they were back in the days.
In the caption of his recent post, Morello shared the backstory of his friendship with Jones and revealed that they actually had a band named The Electric Sheep. Apparently, one member of the band decided to leave the band due to theological reasons which led Adam Jones to join The Electric Sheep instead.
As Morello described, Adam was a really talented guitarist back in the days and he even taught lots of things to Tom when they were playing together. Also, Tom stated that they even went to see the live performances of Judas Priest and Yngwie Malmsteen together.
Here is what Tom Morello stated in the caption:
“Adam Jones & I rocking metal faces and crossing metal swords in my basement in Libertyville, Illinois. How we met: I was in a band called The Electric Sheep in high school. One member of the band quit over theological reasons (he had just become born again Christian and felt his newfound faith conflicted with The Sheep’s punk ethos).
But he softened the blow of his departure by introducing me to Adam who he described as ‘A really talented musician who just moved here from the Bay Area.’ Adam & I shook hands in the make-up room of the LHS Drama Club and he immediately joined the band.
We became close friends and as I was still a beginner he was very helpful and encouraging to me. We went to shows together (Judas Priest, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc.) and played together throughout those very formative years.”
