Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi recently shared a video on his official YouTube channel to celebrate his fans’ new year. The musician reflected on all the projects he embarked on in 2021 and reflected on his collaboration with former bandmate Ozzy Osbourne.

On 21 February 2020, Ozzy Osbourne released his first solo album in almost ten years named ‘Ordinary Man.‘ It received positive reviews from music critics and debuted at No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart.

A few days after the release, Osbourne gave another exciting news and said he wanted to make another album. The Prince of Darkness started working on his follow-up album, and in November 2021, Sony announced that Osbourne’s album would be released within six months with the full involvement of Zakk Wylde.

In addition to Wylde, Osbourne’s former bandmate Tony Iommi was also announced as a contributing musician in his new album. It was revealed that the guitarist wrote a song, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith performed it along with the two Black Sabbath icons.

Recently, Tony Iommi shared a video on his official YouTube channel to say goodbye to 2021 while recalling his significant projects throughout the year. The musician started his words by mentioning the Black Sabbath box-sets and the 480-million-year old fossil named after him.

Iommi also mentioned another important project, his signature perfume, on which he had been working for quite a while. The guitarist even released a song dedicated to his perfume which showed how extensive the project was.

Tony Iommi also reflected on his project with Ozzy Osbourne and stated once again that he wrote a song for his new album. In addition to this, the guitarist revealed that they have already recorded the song, and Osbourne’s vocals were impressive, and he sounded great.

About his projects in 2021, Iommi said:

“Hello all, it’s that time of the year again. Another year, 2022. Can you believe it? Time just flies by so quickly nowadays. It’s been a real busy year for me though. I’ve been doing a lot for the Sabbath box sets that we’ve had out the last year which has been interesting. I’ve been doing a lot of interviews as the rest of the band have.

A couple of interesting things have happened to me in the last year, one being they’ve named a fossil after me. A 480-million-year old fossil they called Iommi, which I’m really proud of. It’s brilliant! I never thought that would happen.

And the next thing that happened, which again I would never have believed, is I’ve got my own perfume out. That’s really great for me because I’ve always been interested in that for many, many years in different colognes and aftershaves and whatever else.”

He continued:

“Another thing I did, I’ve worked with Ozzy on a track for his album. I wrote this track, and he’s done some great vocals on it. I was really pleased with what he has done. His singing was really well. So that was another project we did.”
