The iconic guitarist of the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, Tony Iommi has mourned for his dear friend and one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Eddie Van Halen, with a heartbreaking letter on Instagram.

As you know, the inventor and legendary guitarist, Eddie Van Halen passed away on Tuesday, October 6, at the age of 65, after a really long battle with cancer as it was stated by his son, Wolfgang Van Halen, on Twitter.

The reason for his death was stated by his doctors that cancer had moved to his brain, as well as his other organs, after Eddie had struggled with tongue and throat cancers for years by receiving treatments in Europe.

Unfortunately, Eddie Van Halen departed this life at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, his wife, Janie Van Halen, his son, Wolfgang, his ex-wife, Valerie Bertinelli, and his brother, Alex, by his side.

Right after the agonizing news was revealed, the whole music industry, as well as the legend’s beloved friends, family, and fans, have expressed their sorrows over their great loss.

One of his friends, and the phenomenal guitarist, Tony Iommi, has taken Instagram to say a few things, as well. Iommi explained that he’s just devastated to hear the awful news.

He defined Eddie Van Halen as one of a very special kind of person, a really great friend, a brilliant guitar player who was idolized by millions of fans and a lovely human being.

Iommi added that he and his wife, Maria Sjöholm, send their deepest condolences to his wife Janie, his son Wolfgang, his brother Alex and family who have stood by him through all of this horrible illness, and of course his fans.

Here’s what Tony Iommi said in his latest Instagram post:
