Black Sabbath icon Tony Iommi opened up about the possibility of another tour during a recent interview with Planet Rock. According to the guitarist, he can never say never about a reunion as they were determined in their previous decisions but ended up reuniting.

Since its formation in 1968, Black Sabbath has been one of the most influential bands in the music industry as they are the pioneers of heavy metal music. The band defined the genre throughout their career with monumental albums such as ‘Paranoid,’ ‘Master of Reality,’ and ‘Black Sabbath.’

Although they have countless achievements, such as being one of the most commercially successful heavy metal bands, Black Sabbath members also had their ups and downs that led to their disbandment in the past, as well as several line-up changes.

Fortunately, the band got together each time, and their last reunion was with Ozzy Osbourne as their lead singer. Black Sabbath embarked on their final tour, titled The End, in January 2016 and performed until February 2017. On 7 March 2017, they announced their disbandment through their official social media accounts.

Since their break-up, Black Sabbath fans have been waiting for a glimpse of hope in terms of their reunion. However, both Ozzy Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler previously stated that they would not consider reuniting with their former band.

Regardless of their statements, Tony Iommi recently reflected on the possibility of having Black Sabbath as a band once again. According to the guitarist, he cannot say they aren’t going to reunite for sure since they did in the past but got together eventually.

If you ask Iommi, having an extensive tour is impossible, yet seeing the Black Sabbath members together for special occasions isn’t off the table. Tony believes this as they once thought getting back with Osbourne would never happen, but they actually concluded the band’s career with him.

According to Planet Rock, Iommi said:

“You can never say never, can you? We’ve known in this band you can never say, ‘That’s never gonna happen again,’ because every time we said that, it has.

We never thought we’d get back with Ozzy after the early years. We never thought we’d get back with Dio again; we did. So you just can’t say it’s never gonna happen.

It’s just the major touring that has come to a stop. I wouldn’t wanna do 18-month tours again but that doesn’t say we wouldn’t do any one-off stuff.”

It appears that Tony Iommi is experienced enough to keep the possibilities in his mind just in case they feel like reuniting once again. Since it’s not the most unusual thing for bands to get back together, fans are crossing their fingers for the future.
