Black Sabbath‘s lead guitarist Tony Iommi recently shared a post on his official Twitter page clarifying the latest misinterpretation after his fans assume he was going to have surgery. It turned out that Iommi was only raising money to help a local building.
As you might remember, Tony Iommi just shared a post announcing an auction consist of Black Sabbath items in order to support a new NHS surgery. Because no further explanations haven’t been made, fans instantly assumed it was Iommi who needed surgery.
However, ‘surgery’ often means a place where a doctor, dentist, or other medical practitioner treats or advises patients in British English, in addition to its meaning of medical practice.
Due to this misunderstanding, Tony Iommi’s management shared a post on his official Twitter page and revealed that Iommi announced the auction to boost the construction of a local building. It was also revealed that Tony is doing just fine when it comes to his health status which made worried fans take a breath now that it’s clear that Iommi’s not going to have surgery whatsoever.
Here is what Iommi’s manager said:
“‘Referring to what ‘surgery’ means, in the UK, it’s where you go to see a doctor. Tony is fine, he’s just raising money to have a local building finished as nice as possible.’
