Trivium frontman Matt Heafy gave an interview to Classic Rock in which he claimed that Dave Mustaine is unlike any other frontman in the rock scene.

In 2020, it was announced that Trivium would be Megadeth and Lamb Of God’s opening act during the ‘The Metal Tour Of The Year.’ However, the dates were rescheduled for 2021 due to the pandemic.

Although In Flames was supposed to appear as the second opening act alongside Trivium, they had to withdraw. So, Hatebreed joined The Metal Tour Of The Year instead of In Flames, and the tour kicked off on August 20. It was recently completed, but the last three dates were postponed to 2022.

In the interview with Classic Rock, the host Henry Yates asked Matt Heafy which one of the three bands he would like to compete with during The Metal Tour Of The Year. As a response, Matt Heafy said they are all performing really well, but Megadeth’s shows are unbelievable.

Following that, Trivium’s frontman added that Dave Mustaine is still flawless, and there is no other frontman like him on the planet. Moreover, Heafy admitted that he wants to be competitive, although he often says he believes they will rise together.

Classic Rock’s interviewer Henry Yates asked Matt Heafy that:

“Who’s the band to beat on this tour?”

Matt Heafy then responded:

“I feel like all four are firing on all cylinders, but man, Megadeth is just unbelievable. Every single detail of their show is meticulous, and Dave Mustaine is still flawless. There is no one else on the planet like him.

Am I competitive on a tour like this? Of course, there’s the ‘humility’ answer: I do believe that everyone rises up together. But I also want this, more than anyone else I know.”

As for a recent piece of news, Trivium released their tenth studio album on October 8, 2021. Named ‘In The Court Of The Dragon,’ the album is based on mythology and fantasy literature.
