The official Instagram page of U2 shared audio of U2 lead guitarist David Evans, also known as The Edge, on Instagram in order to convey the band’s wishes for the new year after 2020 which was full of catastrophic incidents.
As we all know, 2020 is going to be a year that all humanity will remember with coronavirus pandemic, and with those, we have lost. In addition to lockdowns, restrictions, and the life that has changed drastically, 2020 has many heartbreaking incidents such as the loss of Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen, the loss of NBA star Kobe Bryant, and the death of George Floyd which once again showed the importance of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.
Along with the tragic loss of many artists, there have been numerous catastrophic events like Australian wildfires which burned a record 47 million acres, displaced thousands of people, killed at least 34 people, and numerous animals, Beirut explosion killed at least 190 people and injured thousands of others, and West Cost wildfires which burned millions of acres are a few of many devastating incidents that happened in 2020.
Due to the infamous 2020, many people only wish 2021 to be a better year in terms of health and hope for the best. Recently, U2 shared a post on their official Instagram page revealing their wishes from 2021 through The Edge’s voice.
Apparently, U2 also wishes to have a year filled with peace and forgiveness after going through 2020, a challenging ear according to The Edge. During his message, The Edge also stated that the new year may be a chance to have a new beginning.
Here is what The Edge said in his message to the fans around the world:
“This is The Edge. It’s been a very challenging year so let’s make 2021 a year of peace and forgiveness. Stay safe and make big plans for the new year and we all get a chance to start again.”
